Provincial Nomination Program (PNP): Under this program the provinces of Canada nominate candidates based on their expertise and the requirements of the country. It is considered to be a strong pathway for those who wish to permanently settle in Canada. The territories and provinces under PNP are- Alberta, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Yukon, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan, Ontario. Quebec has its own selection criteria in this regard that is done in agreement with the Government of Canada.

Canadian Experience Class (CEC): This program is for temporary foreign workers, professionals and foreign graduate students who want to settle down in Canada permanently. The Canadian Experience Class includes two streams mainly-temporary foreign worker stream and the Post graduation stream.

The minimum requirements under the Canadian experience class include-

  • At least two years of full-time work experience in case of temporary worker and at least one year experience in case of skilled worker in Canada.

  • Must meet the language threshold.

  • Must work and live outside the Quebec province of Canada.

Family sponsorship: Any permanent resident or citizen of Canada aged above 18 years can sponsor any of his/her family members to migrate and permanently settle in Canada with them. The family sponsorship is a pathway to this. This requires the sponsor to fulfill certain criteria-

  • Age of the sponsor must be above 18 years.

  • There must be a signing of sponsorship that commits towards providing financial support to the family member, allowing them to become permanent residents.

  • Must provide financial support for about 3 years in case of a spouse or conjugal partner.

  • Must offer financial support in case of a dependent child till the time he/she turns the age of 25 years.

Business class: This program attracts investors and entrepreneurs who wish to contribute towards Canada through various business related activities. Under this, three categories of business immigration take place, that is-

  • Immigrant investor program

  • Entrepreneur program

  • Self-employed person.
